Miami Group Sierra Club January Innings: “Past Plastic”, “Solar and Wind”,”MGSC retreats”

When: Monday, January 6th from 7pm-8:55pm

Where: At the Dan Beard Boy Scout Council (10078 Reading Road, Cincinnati, OH)

What: Three topics:

PAST PLASTIC: Cincinnati Past Plastic is a Sierra Club’s action campaign. We are dedicated to reducing Cincinnati’s plastic waste one single-use bag at a time. Through educational efforts we hope to create a network of advocates ready to lobby for the cause. Our ultimate goal is to place a five cent fee on single-use plastic bags. This will greatly reduce the city’s plastic waste and rank us among a growing network of cities worldwide taking similar progressive steps to create a greener world. Myra Morehart and Johnna Jackson are both students at the University of Cincinnati and Sierra Club fellows. They have been working on the Cincinnati Past Plastic campaign since January 2013.

DOVETAIL SOLAR AND WIND: Julie Jones, from Dovetail Solar and Wind Products, will do a short presentation about a partnership with the Ohio Chapter of the Sierra Club. This is part of a national program to promote clean energy while being a fundraiser for local groups.

MGSC RETREATS: Karen Nagel and Marci Taylor will do a short presentation about the Miami Group past retreats, and upcoming retreat on Feb. 8-9, 2014.
