The 40th Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF) begins on March 30 and runs until April 10 at Tower City Cinemas in downtown Cleveland. A number of environmental films will be shown. Northeast Ohio Group of Sierra Club and Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal Campaign are CIFF Community Partners for two of them. NEO Sierra will partner on Anthropocene, a documentary that explores human impact on the earth going back 6000 years and makes projections concerning the future sustainability of human society. Beyond Coal is partnering on Cheshire, Ohio, a documentary about the fate of a small town along the Ohio River that was purchased and leveled by a utility company in an attempt to avoid pollution from a coal-fired power plant. For a schedule of screenings at Tower City, go to www.clevelandfilm.org.
Ticket prices are $14 for CIFF members, $14 for students and seniors (in person purchase with current ID) and $16 for everyone else. Sierra Club members will be eligible for a $2 per ticket discount by using the codeword “Sierra” when purchasing tickets. Tickets can be purchased online at www.clevelandfilm.org or by phone at 877.304.FILM(3456). In person purchases can be made at the Tower City Cinemas lobby (see CIff website for hours). Advance purchase of tickets is recommended, especially for films shown on the weekends. See you at the festival!
