Note: Following each outing description is a “level-of-difficulty” rating: 1=easy to 4=strenuous. This indicates roughly how difficult an outing is likely to be. If in doubt about your skills or endurance, explore plans with the trip leader first.

Sat. Mar. 25, Bike the Roads of N. Ky. 3. We meet at Pendery Park on Rt. 8 at 11 AM and bike for about 30 miles. The route includes some significant hills. Bring a lunch and helmets are required. Thurs. Mar. 30, Service Outing on the Little Miami Bike Path 1. We will start at 4 PM at the Avoca Trailhead and work for a couple of hours maintaining the right of way of the bike path. Sat.-Wed. Apr. 1-5, Backpack in the Cranberry Wilderness 2-3. We will leave early Sat. morning and hike 3-4 miles in the afternoon and about 21 miles Sun.-Tues. with a short hike out on Wed. This trip is challenging but is doable for those with some backpack experience. Sat. April 8; Sharon Woods Early Explorers Hike 2. Step into spring with a rejuvenating 5 mile hike. We’ll set out from the Sharon Centre parking lot promptly at 9 AM. Enter on the Route 42 side of the park. Call Maria Eckhoff 769-5413 before 8 PM if you need directions.

Sat. Apr. 8, Service Project at the Imago Earth Center 1. Join us for a Helping Hands Saturday from 9 to 12 at the Imago Earth Center at 700 Enright Ave. in Price Hill. We will be working on trail improvements, garden planting, beautification and habitat restoration. Please come dressed for the weather and for working outside. Sun. Apr. 9, Little Miami River (Kelley’s to Milford) or best local water 2.This is a spring run on the Little Miami River to start the paddle season. You must have your own boating equipment. You must wear your life jacket, helmet and cold water gear. You should bring a lunch and water for the day and an extra dry clothes.  If canoeing or using a sit on top recreational kayak you do not have to wear a helmet. Thurs. Apr. 13, Day Hike 1-2. Meet at a Frisch’s at 9 AM for an optional breakfast followed by a one – two hour hike at a near-by park or hiking area at 10 AM. We are usually off the trail by about Noon. We decide where to hike usually Tuesday afternoon before the hike depending on the weather then send around an e-mail with the details.  NOTE: Participants will need to RSVP and leave a contact number and email in case of cancellation due to sudden weather change. Wed. Apr. 19, Bike the Little Miami Trail, Avoca Trailhead Park (Newtown) toward Loveland and back 1-2. Join me for a two-hour moderate-fitness bike ride, beginning from the Avoca Trailhead Park parking lot at 10 AM. A helmet is required; dress for the weather; bring plenty of water and snacks. Optionally, we will lunch at a nearby barbecue restaurant. Call Doug Jose at 513-470-5473 to confirm your attendance. Fri. Apr. 21, Hike the trails at Ault Park 2. Join me for a two-hour, moderate-fitness hike of 3-4 miles. There will be some steep (but short) climbs; it can be very muddy and slippery at times. Meet at 10 AM; park on the big outer circle drive directly behind the pavilion. Dress for the weather; wear decent hiking boots and sox; bring plenty of water and snacks; poles are recommended. Fri.-Sun., Apr. 21- 23, Backpack the Fiery Gizzard Trail, South Cumberland State Park, TN. 4. This is a rugged 15 mile backpack with spectacular rock formations, cascading streams, waterfalls, rocky gorges, panoramic overlooks and lush woodlands. This trail has been rated by Backpacker magazine as one of the Top 25 in the country. Sun. Apr. 23, Rocky Fork Creek (Blue Bell Run) or best local water, 2. Come join the fun for this boating trip on “Rocky Fork” and the “Paint Creek Shoots” to see the beautiful early wildflowers. During lunch we may have time for a short hike into Highland Sanctuary to view the many beautiful wildflowers. This is an intermediate trip on class 1-2 water; all students who have taken Essentials of River Kayak are welcome. You must have your own boating equipment, including cold water gear, lifejackets, and helmets, lunch & water. We will be leaving Cincinnati and driving to Rocky Fork around 9 AM. Sat. April 29, Glenwood Gardens Get Up N’ Go Hike 2. Things are always changing at Glenwood. Join us as we hike about 3 miles through restored ecosystems. We leave the gatehouse promptly at 9 AM. The gatehouse is located at the end of Glendale-Milford Rd. at Rt. 4 (next to McDonalds). Call Maria Eckhoff 769-5413 before 8 PM if you need directions.
