SORTA met this morning to consider, among other things, its support of the proposed Oasis bike trail.
The Indiana and Ohio Railway spoke again in opposition to the bike trail, citing safety concerns and questions regarding the ownership and control of the north rail line.
Much of the board deliberation focused on SORTA’s desire to connect bicycle and transit users while not “getting into the bike trail business.”
Ultimately, however, there was only one “no vote” against the trail. Karl Schultz cited safety concerns and the Clermont County Chamber of Commerce’s desire to leave Oasis open for passenger rail as part of the Eastern Corridor. The overall board sentiment was very positive about the future of a bike trail.
Thanks to everyone who spoke up in favor of the trail and contacted SORTA !
