Sierra Club Files Notice of Intent to Sue AK Steel

On Oct 6, 2017, Sierra Club filed a Notice of Intent to Cile a citizen Suit for Violations of the Clean Air Act by AK Steel.   Sierra Club identified over 600 violations and AK Steel continues to violate the law.

The substances released are known to be toxic and/or cause adverse health effects including cancer.  Particulate pollution is linked iwth premature death and illnesses. PM 2.5 poses the greatest risk to health because the particles can become lodged deep in the lungs and may enter the bloodstream.

Children and people with heart or lung disease are the most vulnerable.
