“FIGHTING CLIMATE CHANGE”
PRESENTATIONS BY MELISSA ENGLISH,
DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF OHIO CITIZEN ACTION
Ohio Citizen Action organizes and mobilizes people to advocate for public
interests. In person. by phone and online, we engage people in actions that protect public health, improve environmental quality and benefit consumers. Our campaigns connect Ohioans and build a movement to protect democracy and create a sustainable future.
Melissa English is the Deputy Director of Ohio Citizen Action. She is a 30-year veteran of non-profit groups from PBS to Greenpeace. She has done nearly every job one can do at Ohio Citizen Action, including volunteer board member, because she understands that active and engaged citizens are the best possible hedge against abuses of government and corporate power. Over the years, she has helped the organization to secure organic produce in major grocery stores, negotiate pollution prevention agreements between industrial and residential neighbors, fight against mountaintop removal coal mining and defeat consumer bailouts of old, inefficient coal plants. She also currently serves as the Executive Director of Ohio Citizen Action Education Fund.
Ms. English lives in the vibrant Northside neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio with her husband Tim and spoiled rotten cats.
