Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley has signed onto the Sierra Club’s Mayors for 100% Clean Energy campaign. The mayor’s action in late September paves the way for the Dayton City Commission to make the full Ready for 100 pledge, which calls for full conversion to renewable energy by 2050. The City Commission in late August adopted the Dayton Sustainability Plan, which calls out Ready for 100 as one of numerous actions the city can take to fight climate change. Mark Charles, Dayton Sustainability Manager, has drafted a Ready for 100 resolution which is expected to go before the commission in November. If passed, Dayton will become the fourth Ohio city to make the Ready for 100 pledge (behind Cleveland, Cincinnati and Lakewood).
