Dayton Ready for 100 December ’19 Update

Sierra Club representatives met with Montgomery County staff in Dayton in early December to outline the Sierra Club’s Ready for 100 campaign (RF100).
Cathy Cowan Becker, Ohio Chapter RF100 chair, presented an overview of the statewide campaign. Nathan Alley, Ohio chapter staff member, discussed the process for getting Cincinnati to adopt the RF100 pledge late last year. The Sustainability managers for both Dayton and Cincinnati participated in the meeting, as well as representatives from the University of Dayton’s Hanley Sustainability Institute.
The Sierra Club hopes to make an RF100 presentation to the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners in early February. A presentation to the Dayton City Commission likely will be scheduled in March.
RF100 is a nationwide Sierra club effort to persuade local governments to commit to 100 percent renewable energy use by 2050, if not sooner.
