Pleas join us Jan. 5 as Bob Gedert, past president of the National Recycling Coalition and author of the new book – Untangling Plastics: The Missing Link in Mitigating Climate Change – draws from his 45-year career in the recycling industry and his recent research to reveal the misguided mindsets that have led the movement for sustainability. His book is a comprehensive investigation of the manufacturing, proliferation, and disposal of plastics – their harmful impacts on the environmental and human health.
Most people consider plastic consumer items and packaging as beneficial and generally inert or harmless. Yet the plastic in our household products are made from hundreds of chemicals originating from petrochemical factories that also produce oil and gas.
In his talk, Bob will explain how consumers have actually been complicit in causing these harmful impacts. How can we untangle ourselves from our plastic habit and adopt greener ways of living?
