Join Miami Group for a tour of an archeological site in Anderson Township, to be led by Robert Cook of The Ohio State University. This prehistoric site contains remains of ancient villages and burial mounds of the Fort Ancient period and pre-Columbian Lake Woodland culture. The site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, one of the first to find evidence of corn agriculture. Excavations began in 1880.

The tour will explore the Turpin Farmstead where we will learn about the region’s first Euro-American settlers. The Turpin family is believed to be the first European family who settled in the area.

The tour will be held Monday June 5, 2023 at 6:30 PM. Meet at 5341 Cincinnati Batavia Road, Cincinnati, Ohio. Look for the tent with the Sierra Club banner.

NOTE: This is a PRIVATE RESIDENCE, DO NOT PARK HERE. The event venue is directly across the road with a short paved drive to a gated field next to the bike path. We will have someone at the entrance.
