Miami Group celebrates Earth Day at Winton Woods

earth day 2024

Volunteers from the Sierra Club Miami Group enjoyed sharing our conservation and outings activities with hundreds attending the Hamilton County Great Parks Earth Day Celebration Saturday, April 20th at Winton Woods. Visitors to the Miami Group booth helped to support our current campaign to reinstate stricter air nuisance rules at the U.S. EPA by signing onto our petitions.

Children and their parents learned how they have a key role in protecting the Earth through a nature crafts activity. We encouraged the children to “adopt” their favorite species and use stencils to create a picture. By the end of the afternoon, we all enjoyed their fantastic artwork that covered creatures from the land, air and sea.

We also encouraged them to “explore and enjoy” with some displays from Outings activities. With the strong winds blowing, many took advantage of the opportunity to duck into our cozy backpack tent to warm up.

Thanks to Carol Cohn, Evan Dennenberg, Kathy Kugler, Sally Dannemiller and Chris Curran for taking the time to help recruit the next generation of activities for the Miami Group.
