Membership & Outreach

There are 7 groups in the Ohio chapter of the Sierra Club. As of September 2016, our Miami Group, in Southwestern Ohio had 5,150 members.
Our Membership Outreach Committee sends out welcome e-mails or postcards to new members.  We work to recruit new members, educate them about the local and national Sierra Club, and mobilize those who have the time and desire to get more involved.

We reach out to the public with  Earth Day booths (Riverfront Earth Day at Sawyer Point, Earth Day at Sawyer Point, Earth Jam at Cincinnati State, Party for the Planet at the Cincinnati Zoo, P & G’s Center Hill Earth Day,  and Western Wildlife Corridor’s Wildflower Event.)
The Membership Committee hosts various events to keep in touch with our members and share our issues and projects.  In August we have our annual picnic, usually at the Izaak Walton Lodge along the Little Miami River in Loveland, OH.  Folks participate in hiking, biking and paddling events during the day after which we gather for our potluck picnic and live music.  In November we have our annual potluck dinner and hear what our committees have accomplished during the past year and their goals for next year. In December we host our annual holiday party.
If you’re interested in working with us,  we’d certainly welcome more help with events and volunteer coordination.
