Background provided by MSD:
It’s all about clean water!
MSD’s budgets ensure the protection of public health and the environment within MSD’s service area. MSD’s annual Operating and five-year CIP budgets are developed and recommended by MSD to the BoCC each year.
The Operating budget includes the funding needed to operate more than 3,000 miles of public sewers and interceptors, 100 pump stations, 9 wastewater treatment plants, 9 wet weather facilities, and the new Lick Run Greenway. It includes both personnel and non-personnel costs.
The CIP budget includes the funding needed to build new sewers and other assets, upgrade treatment plants, and comply with our Wet Weather Program to reduce sewer overflows into local streams and rivers.
