Presentation to Education, Innovation & Growth Committee

At the Education, Innovation & Growth Committee of Cincinnati City Council on January 28th, we heard a presentation by Kevin Hengehold on the problems on single-use plastic bags. In attendance were committee members P.G. Sittenfeld, chair; David Mann; Chris Seelbach; and Wendell Young. The room was filled with 50-60 citizens. In the public comment period (each had 2 minutes to speak) the public made many cogent arguments for banning single-use plastic bags in Cincinnati. Coalition members of Past Plastic Cincinnati were there; League of Women Voters of the Cincinnati Area, Women’s  City Club, Sierra Club, Imago and Vegan Earth.  We were joined by Millcreek Alliance members. Thanks to all who showed up and participated! See some pictures below.

At the close of the meeting 3 committee members pledged enthusiastic support for a ban. We hope to have some more news on this in the next couple of weeks.

Please join us at an upcoming meeting!
