Virtual Backpack Training!

With the Covid-19 pandemic still restricting activities, the MGSC Outings Committee is collaborating with two local businesses to offer a series of virtual training sessions in Backpacking related topics. Sponsored by Roads, Rivers and Trails, Summit Trek and Travel, and Miami Group Sierra Club, the series will offer training on subjects like Leave No Trace, Basic Backpacking Gear, and Food and Stoves. In addition, advanced topics such as Trip Planning, Navigation and Lightweight Backpacking are planned to be offered. Note this training is intended to help prepare participants for future outdoor activities, and the Outings Committee strongly encourages everyone to follow all current Covid-19 restrictions and social distancing guidelines.

All training sessions will be free of charge and presented live by experienced instructors. Look for schedule details in future Newsletters, on our website, and the Sierra Club Outings Meetup page. Our schedule is below as well.

Email Nancy Ball at [email protected] if you are interested in learning more about these events or leading a virtual training session.
