BYOBag Coalition visiting Kroger Headquarters

BYOBag coalition will visit the Kroger headquarters (1014 Vine St, Cincinnati, OH 45202) downtown at 12:30 pm on September 20th. We will be passing out reusable bags and bringing a letter for Kroger to support them putting Cincinnati first for the use of reusable bags in their stores.

Sewers & Clean Water Update !

City and County would rather fight than switch to fixing sewers. The County asked the Court to help them and extend the agreement deadline for another year.  Read more.

County tells USEPA they disagree and that USEPA must accept the county plan (see posting), not the city plan. If USEPA does not, the County invokes dispute resolution.  Read more.

USEPA says city and county cannot submit separate Phase II plans.  Read more.

New study links childhood health impacts to Sewer Overflows

Checkout Dr. Brokamps’ study of Greater Cincinnati Sewer Overflows and childhood visits to  the Emergency Room for GI illnesses.

County and City are continuing their disagreement over the next phase of the sewer consent decree cleanup.  Read about the County’s June plans and Sierra Club’s comments.  

New draft MSD phase II plan from the County   –approved for submittal to USEPA (unless the city and county agree to changes at June 20, 2018 commission meeting. download plan here 2019-06-20 BOCC Resolution with Draft Phase 2A.

On June 28, 2018, Cincinnati filed its own MSD Phase II plan with the USEPA

Sierra Club addresses failure to enforce environmental law

Sierra Club sends Notice of Intent to File a Citizen Suit under the federal Clean Air Act against greater Cincinnati corporation.  We documented over 600 violations that gone unaddressed by Ohio EPA.
