Larry Falkin, Miami Group executive committee member, has been invited to the Midwest Regional Sustainability Summit, on June 5 at the Sharonville Convention Center, to tell the story of converting his 1927 home to all-electric. The summit is sponsored by Green Umbrella, the Greater Cincinnati nonprofit climate collaborative whose mission is to create resilient, equitable and thriving communities. The Miami Group is a supporter of Green Umbrella.
Larry has worked for several years on this conversion “because electricity can be renewably sourced and carbon neutral, and natural gas and gasoline can not be,” he said. “So I have upgraded my electrical panel from 100 to 200 amps, installed a heat pump hot water heater, a heat pump HVAC system, and two EV chargers to go with my two electric cars. Looking at the costs and the savings, the payback period on my investments is about three years.
“My piece of the ‘electrify everything’ panel discussion is basically a case study on how and why to go fully electric,” he said.
The summit is open to all. Registration is $200.
