Alvin was very active in the Miami Group Sierra Club as the Innings Chair for many years. He was also involved with the club’s Thursday morning walks, first as a hike leader, and then by maintaining a mailing list to alert members of upcoming walks. The Miami Group Sierra Club could always count on Alvin and Evan, his son, to take pictures at Miami Group events for publication in our newsletters. Both of them made sure we had pictures of people who received awards at our volunteer appreciation dinners. Alvin put in a lot of time at the Boy Scout Center to ensure that everything needed was working before Miami Group meetings and presentations. Evan and Alvin’s wife, Carolyn, remain active members today.
