Join us for the next Education Forum on April 1, a presentation by Susan VonderHaar, director of the Cincinnati Permaculture Institute.
In 1983 two visionaries offered the world a pathway to a permanent culture. By synergizing the regenerative principles of nature with the innovation of intentional, ethical, human design, we can create equitable, sustainable systems in our homes, gardens, governments, and culture. The term “permaculture” was coined by Australian ecologist Bill Mollison and his student David Holmgrem in 1976 as a combination of the words “permanent agriculture” and “permanent culture”.
Since 2008 the Cincinnati Permaculture Institute (CPI) has trained over 300 graduates with an internationally recognized Permaculture Design Certification program. Its “Growing Value Nursery” offers classic and rare perennial edibles and native plantings at affordable prices. The latest Permaculture Implementation Program is bringing regenerative practices to our bioregion. Come and learn what Permaculture is and how its practice can be transformative as it turns us and our community into Producers rather than Consumers.
Susan has been a community advocate of nature education for all ages since her Master Gardening training days in 1996 when she was first introduced to Permaculture. During this time she developed an elementary school nature center and outdoor classroom program at Dater Montessori. She pursued a very traditional environmental advocacy path when she worked as a project scientist and site manager at the US EPA for 25 years, followed by 10 years of teaching environmental science at area colleges.
The program begins 7 PM April 1 at Mt. Auburn Presbyterian Church
103 William Howard Taft Road, Cincinnati (free parking behind the church). Consider joining us early at 6:30 PM for a meet & greet! Snacks provided.
