Bob Mentzer

Bob Mentzer

Bob’s death was unexpected, unreal, and very much of a loss to all of us. He died of a hemorrhage in his brain. It seemed to happen very suddenly and out of the blue on Tuesday afternoon and he very rapidly lost consciousness and never regained it. He died this morning at 11:04 am (Thursday, January 7th). It has been an emotionally and physically exhausting 3 days but it has also been a time filled with love and support from so many family and friends. That has meant the world to all of us. Thank you to each one of you for that.

We wanted to let you know of the plans for the memorial service/funeral for Bob.

It is being held on Monday morning, January 11, 2016 at:
Hodapp Funeral Home
6041 Hamilton Ave.
Cincinnati, OH 45224
(That is in College Hill – near the junction of North Bend Rd. and Hamilton Ave.)

Visiting time is 10-12 a.m. The service will be at noon, and following that will be the ride to Spring Grove Cemetary where Bob will be buried. At the burial site those who want to can stay afterwards and we will have a sharing time for sharing memories and thoughts of Bob and of our relationships with him.

In keeping with Bob’s values, we would ask that rather than giving flowers, those who want to can donate to the Sierra Club which Bob was a member of for around 30 years. It is also where Bob and I (Rhonda) met. Checks can be made out to:
Miami Group Sierra Club, in memoriam of Bob Mentzer, and can be brought to the service on Monday or can be mailed to:

Tim Hershey, Miami Group Treasurer
1216 Holly Ave
Dayton, OH 45410

There is also a memorial service for Bob at the Sunday morning service at our church, the Church of the Brethren on Nassau St. in Walnut Hills, Cincinnati. The service starts at 11 a.m. but all are welcome to come and visit at 10:30.
