Join the Miami Group Sierra Club on 7 PM Thursday, April 25 for Earth Chat: A Media Club to Inspire Community, Education and Action.
The Earth Chat discussion group focuses on books, movies, podcasts and other media that highlight environmental and sustainability issues and how we as individuals, communities and systems can make change for a brighter future.
This session’s discussion will be held virtually and focus on Katherine Hayhoe’s book Saving Us, The Climate Scientist’s Case for Hope and Healing in a Divided World. The book is available on Audible (eight hours), on Libby and at the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library in eBook and hard copy (five). Hayhoe also has multiple videos and interviews, from TED Talks, to CNN, to JFK Library. Find a list of videos here.
Sign up for this new media club by emailing [email protected]. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll be sent a link for the virtual meeting.
Hayhoe is the chief scientist for The Nature Conservancy and is called “one of the nation’s most effective communicators on climate change” by The New York Times. Hayhoe knows how to navigate all sides of the conversation on our changing planet. She negotiates distrust of data, indifference to imminent threats, and resistance to proposed solutions. Hayhoe believes that the most important thing we can do to address climate change is talk about it – and she wants to teach you how.
