Mary Jo Wuest, passed away at the age of 59. She was a strong environmentalist and leader in the Miami Group Sierra Club. Mary Jo was small in stature but mighty in her passions which included her extended family, multiple careers and a love of nature. The former Procter & Gamble and Lenscrafters executive also made a name for herself beyond her extensive work in the Cincinnati business community by her energetic efforts as a kayaker, hike organizer and naturalist.
A Cincinnati native who grew up in Western Hills, Mary Jo earned her undergraduate marketing degree (summa cum laude) from the University of Cincinnati. She then earned an MBA from Xavier University before joining Procter & Gamble in 1984. She worked her way up to senior marketing research brand supervisor and then worked for a decade as director of marketing research for Lenscrafters. In 2000 she founded her own business, specializing as a marketing research consultant.
In 2007 she took the bold move to combine her love of the outdoors with her career and enrolled at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College to earn an associate’s degree in landscape horticulture. Her spirit will always be remembered by those who spent time with her in the Miami Group Sierra Club.
