Miami Group Celebrates at annual picnic

The Sierra Club Miami Group members enjoyed a Sunday picnic at the Izaak Walton League facility August 18 in Loveland. Starting with a bike ride organized by Evan Dennenberg, members ignored the forecast and the spotty showers to enjoy an afternoon of food, fun and music.

In addition to the traditional potluck side dishes and plenty of grilled goodies, members were also treated to music from Dale August and the One-Eyed Jacks.

After dinner, many also enjoyed a friendly competition of cornhole.

Miami Group Chair Sally Dannemiller received a well-deserved ovation for her service and leadership AND a special gift … a comfy chair for our chair to enjoy on her next camping outing.

Many thanks to Barry Randall and Kathy Kugler for arranging the facility reservation, and a big shout-out to Nancy Ball who recruited her brother and his bandmates to provide some great entertainment.

If you’re sorry you missed the fun OR want more Miami Group fun, don’t forget the big celebration at French Park on Sunday, September 15!
