On October 6, 2025, we learned about Cardinal Land Conservancy’s plans to transform a vacant lot in the city into a conservation and sustainability hub. In partnership with the Civic Garden Center, Turner Farm Community Gardens Program, and Adventure Crew, CLC will restore the natural habitat on the seven-acre site at Marshall Avenue and West McMicken Avenue in Cincinnati to create space for community gardens and host environmental activities.
The evening, co-sponsored by the Woman’s City Club, featured panelists Andy Dickerson, Executive Director Cardinal Land Conservancy, Peter Huttinger, Director Turner Farm Community Garden Program, and Sam Settlemeyre, Conservation Program Manager Civic Garden Center.
As the action arm of the Green Cincinnati Plan and the Children’s Outdoor Bill of Rights, CLC is committed to fostering a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient urban environment where nature and people can thrive together. CLC aims to ensure that all communities, especially those historically marginalized, have access to clean, safe, and accessible natural spaces and the benefits they provide. They will partner with the city of Cincinnati and the Hamilton County land bank to identify blighted and vacant properties that overlap their greenspace priority areas.
