Sierra Club springs into backpacking training

Miami Group’s Outings Committee is living the Sierra Club motto “Explore, Enjoy and Protect” through its spring backpacking training series, giving members and non-members alike the skills to get outside safely and responsibly. On March 25, the team presented “Beyond the Day Hike: Your Journey from Hiker to Backpacker” at Roads Rivers and Trails in Milford. They followed that up on April 10 with a two-night beginner “Intro to Backpacking Experience – Learn by Doing” at Germantown Metropark. Finally, April 24 they offered “Chasing Waterfalls: A Backpacking Trip for Beginners” at Big South Fork NRRA.

But it’s not just backpacking. Miami Group offers outings of all types and skill levels, from an urban hike to a day of cycling or paddling. Check out all of our scheduled outings our Meetup page
