It’s been a busy summer of advocacy for SCMG’s “citizen lobbyists.” Since May 1, members of the Conservation Committee have met with four City of Cincinnati Council Members, one Hamilton County Commissioner, one candidate for State Representative and the Director of the Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) for the purpose of advocating for policy changes.
Discussions have focused on stormwater, data centers, and single use plastics.
Here’s a summary of our Citizen Lobbying Activities this summer:
- May 13 – Meeting with Diana Christy, Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) Director, advocated for an Impervious Surface Fee to reduce combined sewer overflows and sewer back ups while lowering sewer bills.
- May 29 – Meeting with City Council Member Jeff Cramerding, advocated for Impervious Surface Fee and financial accountability for MSD.
- June 4 – Meeting with County Commissioner Denise Driehaus, advocated for Impervious Surface Fee.
- June 22 – Meeting with City Council Member Anna Albi, advocated for Impervious Surface Fee, restrictions on data centers, and policies to limit single-use plastics.
- July 14 – Meeting with Congressional Candidate Kristina Knickerbocker, advocated for limitations on steel mill pollution in Middletown.
- July 14 – Meeting with City Council Member Mark Jeffrys, advocated for Impervious Surface Fee, restrictions on data centers, and policies to limit single use plastics.
- July 20 – Meeting with City Council Member Meeka Owens, advocated for Impervious Surface Fee.
