Sierra Club Miami Group supports strong regulations to make sure that data centers are community assets, not liabilities. We’ve adopted a Data Center Position Paper, and shared that document with city leaders.

Cincinnati City Council has tasked the City Planning Department with developing a set of regulations to govern data centers in Cincinnati. The Planning Department has scheduled two Public Engagement Sessions — one virtual and one in-person — to gather input from the public on what should be included.

  • A public Zoom call is scheduled for 6 PM Thursday, Oct. 1. Register here.
  • A public meeting will be held 6 PM Monday, Oct. 19 at the Walnut Hills Branch Library auditorium. Space is limited so the city asks participants register here.

Here’s what the city says to expect at the meetings:

  • Zoning Study Update: Both meetings will consist of an update on the zoning study progress and brief presentations from City departments on how their work relates to data center development. There will be a moderated Q&A after each presentation based on the questions received during registration.
  • Listening Sessions: We want to hear from the Cincinnati community about your thoughts on data centers and what you want to see addressed in the City’s Zoning Code amendments.

If you are unable to attend either of the meetings, you can file comments on the City’s website: Interim Development Control Overlay #89 “Data Centers” and Zoning Study – City Planning. A summary of input received and answers to frequently asked questions will be posted on the IDC #89 webpage following the engagement.
