He attended Highlands High School and the University of Cincinnati, where he graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He retired as a vice president with Trenwa in Fort Thomas, working there for 36 years. A lifelong resident of Fort Thomas, Allen was an avid fan of the Highlands Bluebirds and the community.
He led an active lifestyle which included completing the Appalachian Trail, running multiple marathons, biking, swimming, and weightlifting. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and the World for his love of birdwatching.
