As we posted on February 22, US EPA announced it intends to put the Air Nuisance Rule back into Ohio’s State Implementation Plan (SIP). If that proposed action is finalized after a 30-day public comment period, Ohio citizens will once again be able to directly protect their health and property by using the ANR.
The original 20-day comment period has been exteded to April 24, from March 25, allowing the public more time to comment on this important issue.
US EPA has proposed that they will restore Ohio’s Air Nuisance Rule as part of Ohio’s State Implementation Plan to reduce major pollutants. And US EPA has extended the comment period until April 24, 2024. Please help us get this rule back by commenting at the US EPA’s regulations docket, https://www.regulations.gov/document/EPA-R05-OAR-2020-0055-0225
Tell US EPA that you:
- Support restoring Ohio’s Air Nuisance Rule.
- Want Ohioans to be protected from dangerous particles, soot, gases, acids, metals and other air pollution coming from factories.
- Want environmental justice communities to be protected particularly since they live near such factories and lack resources to address the harm being done, without this rule.
- Know that air pollution standards and other regulations aren’t strong enough to keep neighbors who live next to these factories from adverse health impacts.
